Travel Vaccinations and advice
Travel Vaccine Appointments
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to have an appointment with the practice nurse. However initially you should ring our receptionist and someone will take your details: name, address, phone number. She will ask the date you are travelling and your destination, to determine what vaccinations are required.
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible, preferably at least 6 weeks before you travel. Depending on the vaccinations you need you may require a second appointment to finish a course of injections. The final appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
The practice gives those vaccines which are available under the NHS. Some travel vaccines are not included in the services provided under the NGMS and we do not usually offer these and patients will be advised of alternative providers for these. You should note there will be a charge for these vaccines.
Yellow Fever
We’d like to let our patients know that we no longer provide any private travel vaccinations, including Yellow Fever.
We’ve already updated our details via the official Yellow Fever Centre application process, but as this was done mid-year, our practice may still appear on some national websites. We are currently chasing this up to have our listing removed.
If you require a Yellow Fever or other private travel vaccination, please contact a private travel clinic. Local options can be found via an online search for “private travel vaccinations near me” or on the Travel Health Pro website.
We still provide NHS travel vaccinations for our registered patients where these are available free of charge (for example, tetanus, diphtheria, polio, hepatitis A, typhoid) - patients in need of these vaccines can call the surgery and be added to a waiting list for a call back.
Thank you for your understanding, and we appreciate your patience while the national database is updated.
Which travel vaccines do I need?
You can find out which vaccinations are necessary or recommended for the areas you'll be visiting on these websites:
Some countries require proof of vaccination (for example, for polio or yellow fever vaccination), which must be documented on an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) before you enter or when you leave a country.

Vaccinations
If you're planning to travel outside the UK, you may need to be vaccinated against some of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world.
Our practice nurses are available by appointment to offer medical advice regarding travel and vaccinations where appropriate.
Travel Risk Assessment
If you are travelling abroad please complete our Travel Risk Assessment Form in plenty of time (We recommend 6-8 weeks) before your journey.
